Munich Germany is a much suggested vacation city for anyone who is contemplating a vacation filled with scenery, landmarks, and attractions. Munich offers quite a few attractions for visitors. Located just north of the Bavarian Alps on the River Isar, Munich is truly a stunning sight – both naturally and architecturally. In fact, it appears that no matter where you turn in the city, there’s something truly remarkable to see.
Munich was home to the 1972 Olympic Games and the Olympic Park that was constructed for this event is still in use today and has some type of activity taking place there on more than 200 days out of the year. Visitors can also view the Nymphenburg Palace which was the summer home for rulers of Bavaria. And today, Nymphenburg is open for visitors, but also is still a home and chancery for the head of the house of Wittelsbach, currently Franz, Duke of Bavaria.
But while the streets of Munich are laden with beautiful sights, a visit to the city’s host of impressive museums and art galleries is certainly worthwhile. The Deutsches Museum, for instance, which is located on an island in the Isar, is one of the oldest and largest science museums in the world. The Alte Pinakothek art museum is the largest Art museum in Germany. A must see for any art lover. If you’re a car lover, I am sure Munich’s BMW Museum will be of interest.
Ballet Week and the Munich Opera festival are also celebrated in Munich. The week long festival features the Bavarian State Ballet which has many internationally acclaimed ballet stars who perform and dance as a way to pay homage to this long running festival.
One of the most important musical events in Germany is the Munich Opera Festival and it has been held every summer since 1876. The Munich Opera Festival is respected throughout the world and includes many top notch performers from all around the globe. Munich Germany offers so many different events and activities you can partake in that it’s hard to not see how great of a vacation destination it would be. You have a number of choices regarding art, music and dance; these are just some of the reasons to come visit Munich. Despite all the history you can feel when in Munich, you have other ways you can take some of Munich home with you from experiences or goods by going to high class hotels, fine restaurants and purchasing German made souvenirs and memorabilia from German shops.
Munich offers something for people of all ages and is a choice city for a family vacation. If you’re planning a holiday to Munich, you’ll find an abundance of cheap Munich hotels situated near the city’s top attractions. And if you’re thinking about participating in this year’s Oktoberfest, it’s always best to schedule your Munich accommodations in advance.
